Reconditioned by Leather Surgeon Gerry Gallagher, this beautiful big classic flap is a delight!

A perfect peice when you want to carry a Chanel that you don't need to baby.

 

Condition -  Well to Good Used

 

Details - 

Still quite well shaped and firm, the caviar leather is in a fabulous condition for a piece of this age. 

No vintage aroma and only very gently softened across the middle, there are no decompression creases as yet or undulations and quilting is even with complete colour consistency throughout.

A cool, vanilla cream shade, as opposed to the more recent grey or pinky toned nudes, all stitching is in place, holding stitches strong and there is very little visible wear to the hide, due to the excellent restoration treatment its received.

The lightest surface scuffs visible on very close inspection, to the corner curves of the base and some rubbing to the interwoven strap of the chain handle.

A light, horizontal fingernail scratch to the inner side of the flap, on the upper LH side and there are wavy, vertical crease lines to the middle of the interior of the flap, (see photo above).

The smooth, leather interior is clean and without detriment. There is a slip pocket and a fabric lined zip pocket, which shows just a few very light marks from use.

The main reason for the condition rating is due to the inevitable aging to the 24 Karat plated gold hardware. No flaking to the plating or textural change, the inner side of the flap's four eyelets all display scratches and friction related oxidisation which appears as darker areas.

The outer side of the eyelets are very good, without oxidisation and the chain strap shows some very slight paling to the link's curves, on close inspection.

The base clasp displays oxidisation along the staff, scratches and surface pitts to the end, from contacting with the oval underplate (which is in an excellent condition), but again, this is much less visible to the naked eye than the close up photos make it appear.

The front, interlocking CC plaque displays light surface scratches, small spots of oxidisation and very minor scuffing to the edges.
