Mulberry Ledbury Small Bayswater in Oak Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Ledbury in Oak Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather with Golden Brass Hardware.

The precursor to the Small Bayswater Satchel (SBS), the Ledbury is the very first design of the SBS and was made as smaller version of the Classic Bayswater, (without a shoulder strap).

These pieces don't have a hanging cloche, (some have base feet and some don't!) but everything about the Ledbury makes it a perfectly proportioned, hand held day bag.

So incredibly rare to find on in such an amazing condition, its crafted from the original Mulberry NVT hide that literally oozes Mulberry classic DNA...this is a piece that will just grow lovelier and lovelier with age and use.

Details

Very little evidence of use, the form is firm, (see photo when empty) and there is no wear whatsoever. Corners, trims and curves all perfect.

A beautiful oak colour, not light and ashy but not dark like more recent oak leathers....its the perfect shade and without the most diligent of inspections, looks immaculate.

However, when reviewing closely you can note a horizontal stitch on the front, LH side of the bag's handle-base which is slightly longer than the corresponding one on the RH side. The craftsman may have been having a bit of an 'off' day but its so minor, its not been classified as substandard and to most eyes, its not noticable at all.

Three spots of stray inking, (edge sealent) to the front of of the bag. Again present from construction, the locations are highlighted and shown with the zoom in the Gallery above. To the naked eye they are barely there.

A few, light, diagonal fingernail scratches to the upper rear of the bag, between the handle bases, as shown. Fingernail scuffs will increase in number with use and then blend with the character of the hide, as is the blessing of a fabulous NVT hide.

Surface impressions from the handle bases, as is commonly seen on this model.  Inking all smooth, stitching all strong and hardware excellent throughout.

Top handles are firm and well shaped with only the very slightest patination (not darkening).

Self lined in entirely clean suede displaying natural striations to the pile on the top flap which is an inherent part of the make-up of this nap.

The aperture of the bag can be altered via the internal belt as desired and there is a Mulberry jacquard fabric slip pocket to the rear wall.
