Alexander McQueen Small De Manta Tote in Red Goatskin and Glossy Python - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Alexander McQueen Small De Manta Tote in Red Goatskin and Glossy Python with Antiqued Silver Hardware.

 The instantly recognisable silhouette of Alexander McQueen's much-loved design, the 'De Manta' was inspired by the shape of the manta-ray, (the two folded corners are held in place by self locating concealed magnets.)

McQueen held a long standing curiousity for the sea and this piece is from one of his later collections reflecting the concept of mankind returning to the sea following an environmental apocalypse.

Showcasing a rich, raspberry red chevre leather alongside glossy, King Python, its light to carry, easy to use and an utterly show stopping, exotic piece.

Details -

A neat size for everyday, with twin zips to the top, the silhouette is gently softened with a forward lean when the piece is empty, (see Gallery above).

The goatskin hide is beautiful. Gently glazed and grainy, entirely colour consistent and without wear, however there is a small imperfection to the front, LH trim on the folded corner, present from the time of purchase. Extremely well camouflagued, its completely unnoticable in use.

A very small, round flattening to the grain on the rear LH side of the bag, (just to the RH side of the base handle patch), again present from manufacture.

As is commonly seen on pieces with hand painted inking, (edge sealent), there are a few miniscule dots of stray inking to the hide, from the craftsman's brush. Barely visible even under magnification and an entirely normal feature of construction. 

The top handles are firm, well shaped and the python skin scales all in place with only very slight lifting to the apex edges of the scales on the two rear, base patches.

The wide, leather shoulder strap is excellent with all glossy black inking in place.

A little wear to the inking around the leather of the side loops that encase the two zip pulls, (this does not affect the use of the piece in any way.)

Fully lined in clean, black, fine weave cotton with a leather trimmed zipped pocket.

Made in Italy.
