Louis Vuitton Limited Edition Richard Prince Watercolour Aquarelle Papillon Frame Bag - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Louis Vuitton Limited Edition 'Richard Prince' Watercolour Aquarelle Papillon Frame Bag with Shiny Golden Brass Hardware.

An exceptionally rare, (now Collectors) piece first seen on the runway of the Spring / Summer 2008 Collection, this incredibly beautiful design combines the iconic Papillon barrel shape with the classic Doctors bag styling.

Semi structured, but not hard sided, silhouetted 'Louis Vuitton' fretwork adorns both sides of the flame-red acetate frame and the stunning, hand painted, rainbow toned, karung (watersnake) trims navigate the sides' curves and rolled top handles. 

Perhaps what makes this such a special piece however is the fabulous Aquarelle Watercolor pattern which overlays the traditional monogram canvas. A design unique to many of Richard Prince's paintings, (one of America's most influential contemporary artists, ) it consists of an ethereal mix of 17 confetti-blossom toned watercolors, drop-shadow printed to produce an almost three dimensional effect.

Never carried, just placed in a display cabinet and occassionally admired, this incredible piece deserves to be used!

The lightest contact scratches to the metalware of the frames' interior surfaces where it rests together when closed and a miniscule rub to the rear left hand side frames' upper curve, (see location circled.) This can only be detected by touch as the reflective nature of the acetate conceals it completely to the naked eye. 

Red (bonding / edging) is glossy and firm, however there is a small, diagonal irregularity to the front LH side's handle base, (see location circled). Most likely present from the time of construction, this is again completely unnoticable in use.

Hardware is excellent, the karung leather pristine and canvas entirely As New.

The interior is fully lined in immaculate, soft gold, alcantara textile with slip pocket.

The reason for the *notation is due to the slight but detectable perfumed smell from the previous owners Dressing Room. A particularly identifiable aroma, (if you know what it is!), Penhaligon’s Halfeti is a 'deep rich and captivating fragrance which blends fruits, spices and deepnotes with creamy jasmine and mysterious rose to make a fragrance suited to both men and women.' An intensely woody and musky scent, the base note is Oud, with a head note of Bergamot and a heart note of Black Rose....it's richly and densely composed with quite a masculine aroma reminiscent of cigar lounges. Not to be confused with cigarette smoke, (the owner is a non-smoker) the aroma to the bag is light and very pleasant, (in my opinion!) but deeply entrenched, so not one I'd anticipate to be easily eliminated if it's not a scent you like.
