Mulberry Vintage Classic Bayswater in Black Congo Leather - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Classic Heritage Bayswater in Black Congo Leather with Bronze Hardware.

A magnificent example of Mulberry from an era gone by....this may be Vintage but shows that quality and craftmanship not only stands the test of time, but transcends it.

I am probably biased, (I was born in 1971, like Mulberry!) but these pieces are still the best in my view, and nothing can compare to the original superior hides and hardware.

Whilst it's rare for the Nest to take in a 'Well Used' item, there are some bags that are just too beautiful to turn away......

Details-

Carried extensively, this Mulberry is a testiment to the hardwearing nature of Congo. Still stiff and glossy with a fabulously spaced print, it's one of those bags that's initial appearance literally takes your breath away.

Original padlock and keys in the hanging cloche, (these are very well tarnished!), the bag has a naturally curvy silhouette, with 'inny' corner curves and the front handle will flop slightly if not held, (see photo when empty.) 

Colour consistent and without any rain spots, there are lots of surface scuffs and scratches but virtually all are magically camouflaged by the nature of the hide. One to the upper, LH side of the top flap, (see location circled,) and a larger scuff to the lower RH side, near the base, as shown, the remainder just blend effortlessly into the characterful finish.

No wear to the base corners, all stitching is tight throughout and the shoulder straps are firm and well shaped but inking (edge sealent) has worn to the handle bases and a little to the top inner sides.

The front Postmans Lock Plate displays finish loss around the turnlock hole and tunlock sides. The underside and base plate dispaly contact friction scratches and similarly to the apex of the base feet.

The self lined interior is clean but as is often found on congo pieces, the raw suede has ruffled and discoloured with age. 

As with many Mulberrys made during this era (circa 2005/2006), there is no Serial Number on the reverse of the interior disc. (On these vintage styles, the Badge and Disc are on the other side of the bag, not the pockets side)

Overall, a superb example of proper old-style Mulberry at its finest and a bag that deserves continued use and care.
