Mulberry Bayswater Buckle in Midnight Blue Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Bayswater Buckle Bag in Midnight Blue Coloured Vegetable Tanned Leather with Shiny Gold Hardware.

Original RRP was £1,195 back in the day, (here's a smaller sized, preloved one from Mulberry.com.)

A seriously substantial piece, this larger sized Bays Buckle is crafted from an outstanding, original NVT hide in the darkest of dark blue shades.

Thick, characterful and incredibly sturdy with extra thick, rolled top handles....they just don't make pieces like this anymore.

An absolute workhorse, with acres of room inside, the design is based on the standard sized, heritage Bayswater but is deeper and features side buckle detailing which allows the attractive trapezoid shape.

Cinch the sides in if you prefer a more streamlined look, it's a bag you'll never need to baby and one you'll wonder how you ever did without.

Not a lightweight however, but worth the work out.....it's best suited to crook of the arm or hand held, as with only a 15cm top handle drop, it can be a very tight squeeze on the shoulder.

Don't let the Condition Categorisation put you off. This is a stunning piece despite it's age and use.

Crafted in Somerset, from an NVT hide thats almost as delicious as Darwin Leather. Coloured by vegetable tannins its a rich, deep navy tone than can appear almost black in some lights, and one of those hides that has continued to grow even more lovely over time.

Glossy, creasy and softened throughout, the form is supple but the leather still retains that 'squeeky' ultra-robust, saddle-feel.

Top handles are nicely firm and well shaped though will flop downwards if not placed upright or held.

Inking, (edge sealant) is in place with the exception of the wear to the two flap inlets and a little to the rear handle base inserts.

No actual wear to the leather, it's been very well looked after and replacement protective film was applied to all three lockplates so these are pristine. Original protective film remains in place on both side buckles. The base feet display scratches to their apex from being placed down.

The interior is self lined in entirely clean suede however as is often found on pieces from this era, there is colour fading to the joins inside the bag and some discolouration to the top flap's edges. Natural veining to the suede on the rear, LH side wall can be noted (as present from construction,) and there is a little adhesive residue along the bottom seam of the zipped pocket, (completely unnoticable and not sticky).
