Iconic in its simplicity and crafted from a soft, supple, and deeply pebbled hide that slouches perfectly to mould to your side in use.

The Evelyne was named after Évelyne Bertrand, who was the head of Hermès’s riding department. Designed in 1978 to carry grooming equipment, (the perforated H was designed to enable air to enter the bag to dry the equipment,) it was originally sold in stores alongside other equestrian goods! Now only very occasionally offered by Hermés, its become more and more sought after due to its lessening availability.

"The story behind

Since 1978, this bag has enchanted daily riders. First intended to tend horses, it is sewn without a lining and brightened up with an “H” perforation, which the initiates wear against the body, in order to allow the equipment to dry. With its girth-like shoulder strap, the Évelyne is the perfect heart-minder.

 Taurillon Clemence Leather
Named in tribute to the daughter of the designer who introduced it into the collections, this leather was developed for luggage and is the ultimate example of a grained leather that has been drummed. This process softens the skin and brings a generous grain to the surface.

 Details -

A fabulous piece, it's gently softened with that beautifully relaxed feel that a well-cared for Evelyne will develop with use.

No wear to the leather, just one tiny dot scratch to the leather clad prestud popper, as shown.

Hardware is bright and shiny with minor hairline contact scratches to the two snap clips.

The webbed strap displays very slight surface ruffling and a shallow, vertical linear, sit impression where the sliding buckle has been previously set. 

Entirely clean, self lined suede interior with pile ruffling and minor colour fading to the interior seams at each top side of the aperture.
