Details -
Without doubt this beautiful Bayswater initially appears in an Excellent condition.
Unsoftened and upright, it's firm but not 'hard-sided' (will develop a lovely suppleness with use) and the leather has a beautiful demi-glaze, very reminiscent of Antique Glace, (another amazing discontinued leather type.)
No wear to to the hide. No rubbing or scuffs to the corners or curves and though there are few, extremely light, fingernail scratches these are all so light and vague that the finish camouflages them completely.
Some fabulous veining to the exterior, the hide has a couple of natural striations to the suede on the underside of the flap. Inherent in the hide, these are almost invisible to the naked eye, appearing like scratches only under magnification. Shown in detail in the Gallery above, they do not affect the us of the bag in any way.
The top handles are without wear but will flop downwards if not held and there are the light surface impressions to the top flap from the handle bases, as often found on this design.
Stitching is all tight throughout and inking, (edge sealant) in place.
The Postmans Lock Plate displays no scratches, just a little friction rubbing around the turnlock hole and there are light contact scratches to the two underside plates The turnlock sides have lost surface colour as shown, however this is much less noticable than the close up photos makes it appear.
Scratches and finish loss to the apex of the base feet from being placed down.
The interior is self lined in ruffled suede with a little darker marking to the lower LH side of the base panel.
